THE AWE OF GOD IS RETURNING TO THE CHURCH
Recently while in prayer the Lord led me to Acts 2. The church is about to come into a season of great expansion and multiplication! It won’t be “growth as normal”. It will be massive multiplication with a new harvest of souls. The harvest is upon us with great power, signs, wonders and miracles. The AWE OF GOD will be known and seen.
Acts 2:40-43 “And Peter solemnly testified and continued to admonish and urge them with many more words, saying, “Be saved from this crooked and unjust generation!” So then, those who accepted his message were baptized; and on that day about 3,000 souls were added [to the body of believers]. They were continually and faithfully devoting themselves to the instruction of the apostles, and to fellowship, to eating meals together and to prayers. A sense of awe was felt by everyone, and many wonders and signs (attesting miracles) were taking place through the apostles.”
LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT LED TO THIS DRAMATIC MULTIPLICATION OF 3,000 PEOPLE.
1. Declaration of the resurrection of Jesus & exaltation to the right hand of God.
Prophetic Insight: Jesus will take center stage in church movements. Where man has taken the focus…it will shift to JESUS raised and exalted. We will also understand deeper what it is to live from the right hand of God.
Acts 2:31-33 “He foresaw and spoke [prophetically] of the resurrection of the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), that He was not abandoned [in death] to Hades (the realm of the dead), nor did His body undergo decay. God raised this Jesus [bodily from the dead], and of that [fact] we are all witnesses. Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God”
2. Testimony to the outpouring and gift of the Holy Spirit.
Prophetic Insight: Holy Spirit will take His rightful place in the church. He will fill His church with power and glory. Where is wasn’t welcome before, hearts will become open to Him. He will be seen and heard.
Act 2:33 “and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured out this [blessing] which you both see and hear.
3. A call to repent from sin & to be water baptized
Prophetic Insight: There will be deep conviction of sin. People will be cut to the heart. This will produce deep transformation in people’s lives, rather than surface confession. There will be a move of God with water baptism. Several years ago the Lord told me we would see water baptisms everywhere, wherever there was water! Like the Jesus people movement…in oceans, lakes, water fountains, bathtubs, etc.
Acts 2:37 "Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart [with remorse and anxiety], and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what are we to do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
4. A call to receive the Holy Spirit
Prophetic Insight: Not only will there be water baptisms, but there will be a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This gift will become predominant in the lives of believers. People will really understand what it is to receive and be baptized with the Holy Spirit. It will happen on mass!
Acts 2:39 "For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is for you and your children and for all who are far away [including the Gentiles], as many as the Lord our God calls to Himself.”
4 KEYS TO SUSTAINING THIS DRAMATIC MULTIPLICATION
1. Devoted to the instruction of the word
2. Fellowship and live in relationship with Christians
3. Devoted to prayer
4. Apostolic signs and wonders
Acts 2:42 “They were continually and faithfully devoting themselves to the instruction of the apostles, and to fellowship, to eating meals together and to prayers. A sense of awe was felt by everyone, and many wonders and signs (attesting miracles) were taking place through the apostles.”
